Igor Coronado was in sensational form for Sharjah in the Arabian Gulf League on Thursday, scoring four times in a 5-1 rout of Khorfakkan. The Brazilian's first arrived courtesy of a sixth-minute free-kick and he doubled their lead just over 10 minutes later after being set-up by compatriot Caio Lucas. An own goal from Waleed Sirag followed by a Coronado penalty put Sharjah 4-0 before the break. Ramon Lopes closed the gap midway in the second half only for Coronado to round it off with his fourth goal seven minutes from time. Sharjah’s win, that took them up to second in the table, ended a disappointing run that had seen them fail to win a game since beating Al Fujairah on January 30. They will drop down to second if Baniyas defeat Al Nasr on Friday. An Ali Mabkhout penalty was enough for Al Jazira to seal three points at Hatta and maintain their hold at the top table. The Jazira striker, who collected the February Player of the Month Award before kick-off, continued his good form with a 39th-minute spot kick for the only goal of the game at the Hamdan bin Rashid Stadium on Thursday. With that victory, Jazira are now on 44 points, four ahead of Sharjah. In the other games, Shabab Al Ahli were held by Ajman 1-1 while an injury time goal from Fabio de Lima salvaged a 1-1 draw for Al Wasl at Fujairah.
