He may not have scored during open play, but it wasn't for the want of trying as Mohamed Salah made an all-action return to competitive action for Liverpool. Sadly for him, and Liverpool fans, he ended up on the losing side as Manchester City lifted the Community Shield in the season opener at Wembley Stadium. Salah scored during the penalty shoot-out, which City won 5-4 after a 1-1 draw during normal time. The Egyptian, who endured a busy summer with the African Cup of Nations, was a constant threat and peppered the City goal with shots. He hit the woodwork twice and saw a last minute effort spectacularly hooked off the line by Kyle Walker.
