LEEDS UNITED PLAYER RATINGS: Illan Meslier 5 – Made a spectacular save from Harvey Barnes high to his left to prevent Leicester from doubling their advantage at 1-0. He could do little about the first goal and was unlucky in the second, doing well to deny Vardy’s diving header, but pushing it into Tieleman’s path. Getty Images

Luke Ayling 5 – Liked to get forward when he could but his final ball often let him down, the right-back often delivering aimless crosses into the box. Tracked Vardy well when he was forced to pick up the former England striker as he drifted to Leeds’ right. Reuters

Robin Koch 5 – It was a tough evening for Koch. His awful back pass across his own goal allowed Vardy to intercept the ball and round the keeper for Leicester to open the scoring. Improved in the second half. AP Photo

Liam Cooper 5 – Leeds looked rattled early on and found it hard dealing with the pace of Vardy and Barnes. Grew into the game after a torrid first 45 minutes. PA

Stuart Dallas 6 – Pulled Leeds back into the game when his speculative cross ended up evading everyone, including Schmeichel in the Leicester goal. He was given a tough time by Albrighton at times on the right, but he made a key interception when Tielemans tried to unleash Justin on the right, and generally looked more confident after the break. Mateusz Klich 7 – Even when Leeds were up against it in the first half, Klich stood out with his quality on the ball. In the second half he was a driving force for the home side. Leeds’ best performer on the night, though was unlucky to give away penalty late on. Reuters

Helder Costa 7 – Combined well with Bamford to fashion a shooting opportunity after having gone a goal behind. At the other end, he almost got caught out when he turned into trouble on the edge of his own area. Often had the beating of Fuchs when on the attack, and he looked dangerous when he drifted inside in the second half. EPA

Jamie Shackleton 5 – A first Premier League start for the 21-year-old. He struggled to get into the game and was often chasing Albrighton and Justin rather than attacking in the Leicester half. EPA

Pablo Hernandez 7 – First start since the opening day of the season and he came close to levelling the game when, after fashioning a shooting opportunity on the edge of the area, he curled the ball against the crossbar. AFP

Jack Harrison 7 – Grew into the game and was impressive at the start of the second period. He dealt with Vardy well and quite often showed excellent pace to steal the ball from the Leicester forward.. AP Photo

Patrick Bamford 6 – Strong start. He should have given the home side the lead when he had a clear heading opportunity, but could only direct the ball straight at Schmeichel from six yards. He came close again before the break but was laboured and Schmeichel smothered the ball. EPA

Tyler Roberts (Hernandez 67) 5 – The Welshman was poor when he came on and Leeds seemed to lose the impetus they’d built up when he entered the game. Reuters

LEICESTER CITY PLAYER RATINGS: Kasper Schmeichel 6 – Was the quieter of the two keepers but made a crucial save from Bamford’s header early on and did well to smother at Bamford’s feet before the break. Perhaps could have done better with Leeds’ consolation goal, but the ball drifted through a crowd of players. AFP

Wesley Fofana 8 – Made a brilliant interception on the half-hour mark and looked accomplished all evening. Displays such confidence and assurance for a 19-year-old. Didn’t look phased even when Leeds turned up the heat. PA

Luke Thomas 7 – Showed good speed and great positional awareness, and was often the last line of defence, almost acting like a sweeper at times. Proved to be a solid wall for much of the game. PA

Christian Fuchs 7 – Played in the left of the three and was the elder statesman of the Foxes backline. Was sometimes beaten for pace but his reading of the game was superb. AFP

Marc Albrighton 7 – Looked a constant threat on the right and it was from his cross that Leicester doubled their advantage. Another solid showing from the ever dependable wide player. PA

Youri Tielemans 7 – He started and finished a move for Leicester’s second when, after spraying the ball out wide to the right, he followed in and was able to convert from close range after Vardy’s diving header had been saved. Added a second goal at the death when he converted from the spot. AP

Nampalys Mendy 7 – Did a lot of Leicester’s dirty work. Very rarely lost the ball in a tackle and covered a lot of ground. He was also very calm on the ball. AP

James Justin 6 – Played on the right of Leicester’s back three and did well. Showed he’s capable of playing anywhere along the back line and his versatility certainly impressed this evening. PA

Dennis Praet 6 – Enjoyed plenty of space to attack and looked a menace when running at the Leeds defence, though he went off the boil after the break. PA

Harvey Barnes 6 – Opened the scoring into an empty net after Vardy had seized a poor back pass. He could have made it two immediately after, but his effort was saved. Ran out of steam after the half-time break and was replaced. AP

Jamie Vardy 8 – Scored Leicester’s third goal and could have scored more. He started in typically electric fashion. He first seized on Koch’s poor back pass to tee up Barnes for the opening goal. The two continued to combine well. He came close with a terrific diving header before Tielemans scored from the rebound, but finally got the goal his display deserved. Reuters

SUBS: James Maddison (Praet, 63) 6 – Was heavily involved in Leicester’s third goal. He controlled the ball well and then delivered an inch-perfect pass to Under, who squared to Vardy. Reuters

Cengiz Under (Barnes, 70) 7 – Grabbed an assist within five minutes of coming on. After receiving Maddison’s pass, he dinked the ball back to Vardy to continue the duo’s blossoming relationship. Getty Images
