English football columist Richard Jolly names his Best XI in the Premier League for the November 1-2 weekend.
Goalkeeper: David de Gea (Manchester United) – Both goalkeepers excelled at the Etihad Stadium and even in defeat, United should be grateful to De Gea.
Right-back: Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton) – Singled out for praise by Hull manager Steve Bruce as Saints won 1-0 and Clyne’s outstanding start to the season continued.
Centre-back: Federico Fernandez (Swansea) – Sent off on Merseyside on Tuesday, he returned to the area to deliver an exhibition of reliability and frustrate Everton.
Centre-back: Fabricio Coloccini (Newcastle) – Began the campaign looking fallible but has returned to his best during Newcastle’s surprise sequence of four straight wins.
Left-back: Paul Dummett (Newcastle) – The youngster continued his terrific recent form by defending well and helping set up Newcastle’s winner against Liverpool.
Right midfield: Oscar – Scored perhaps the goal of the weekend with the outside of his right foot as Chelsea saw off local rivals QPR in a tight derby.
Centre midfield: Yaya Toure (Manchester City) – A powerhouse who produced a dominant display, particularly in the second half, of the Manchester derby.
Centre midfield: Stewart Downing (West Ham) – Showed his rich vein of form by scoring one goal and creating another. Perhaps more surprisingly, both came with his right foot.
Left midfield: Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal) – Another week, another brace for the prolific Chilean. What a signing he is proving.
Centre forward: Harry Kane (Tottenham) – Came off the bench to turn the game at Aston Villa to illustrate why he deserves a place in the starting 11.
Centre forward: Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) – City’s derby king struck against United yet again. Aguero was razor sharp and delivered the decisive goal.
