Five players from the Du La Liga High Performance Centre (HPC) have been awarded trials by Spanish clubs following a 21-day scouting camp in Spain. Du La Liga HPC squads completed a one year training programme in Dubai, overseen by La Liga coaches, and played more than 30 matches to prepare for the annual trip to Spain where scouts from Spanish clubs cast their eyes over the players. The HPC squads, split in to Under 14, U16 and U18 age groups, were selected from more than 7,000 players who participated in the Du Football Champions tournament to represent the UAE's finest football talent. READ MORE: Of the players taking part in the training camp in Spain, Ahmed Salam, Yahia Iraqi and Mehdi Elkhamlichi have all been offered trials by Primera Liga club Malaga, while Mohammed Bouherrafa and Mohammed Rajeh will have the chance to impress at Almeria and Cadiz respectively. “The selection of five players from the Du La Liga HPC by La Liga clubs reflects the importance of this platform in providing the youth of the UAE with an opportunity to play professional football," said Abdulwahed Juma, executive vice president, brand and corporate communications of Du. "It also reflects the power of the platform to uncover talent and give them an opportunity to pursue their dreams to be a part of the world’s strongest league.” The Du La Liga HPC is based at The Sevens in Dubai. As well as providing the necessary facilities to aid in football development, the HPC was established to provide the UAE's best football talent with a route to La Liga, both in terms of coaching standards and the chance to secure moves to Spanish clubs. “I have been following the U18 team over the last year and have witnessed their development first hand," La Liga general director Mena region Fernando Sanz, a former Real Madrid defender, said. "They have come a long way with a superior performance here in Spain this year. "These young men have worked hard to make it to this point and earned their trials with La Liga youth clubs. We have also witnessed a strong performance from the U16 team, and the trial selection of Mehdi El Khamlichi reflects the rigorous training of the team and their potential for development in the coming years. "We look forward to see Du La Liga HPC players’ return to Spain next year and their football careers take off in the near future.”
