WATCH: Arab football club final marred by ugly brawl between Al Faisaly players and Egyptian referee

Esperance de Tunis lifted the Arab Club Championship trophy at Alexandria, Egypt, on Sunday night after beating Al Faisaly 3-2 in a match that will likely be remembered for a physical confrontation between players and the referee.

The game itself was a thriller that saw all four regular-time goals come in the second half, with Esperance leading 2-0 on the back of a Saad Bguir double in the 47th and 54th minutes.

But remarkably Al Faisaly clawed their way back, with goals from Akram Zuway, in the 71st minute, and Khalil Beniateyah, 16 minutes later, taking the game into extra time.

Eventually, though, a controversial 101st-minute strike from Chamseddine Daoudi sealed the deal for Tunisian side Esperance. Franck Kom, who looked to be in an off-side position, broke the off-side trap before squaring the ball to Daoudi, who scored into an empty net.

Incensed by Ibrahim Noor El Din's decision to reward the goal to Esperance, several of the Jordanian side's players confronted the referee, leading to ugly clashes that eventually involved the police.

Surprisingly, though, no red cards were handed out by the Egyptian official.
