Manchester City's latest victory saw them extend the all-time record for English top-flight clubs. Pep Guardiola's side beat Wolves 4-1 for a 21st successive win, seven more than the achievements of Preston in 1891-92 and Arsenal in 1987. During that time they have reached the final of the League Cup, the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and taken control of their last-16 Champions League tie against Borussia Monchengladbach. "In winter time in England it's hell and in that time we did something incredible," Guardiola said. "It's more than remarkable. "The players have all my compliments but Liverpool have the crown. To win the Premier League we need those points." The last time City failed to win a game was against West Bromwich Albion on December 15, when they were held to a 1-1 draw. Since then, there have been 15 successive victories in the Premier League, plus two wins in the League Cup, three in the FA Cup, and one in the Champions League. City will be hoping to extend that run to 22 when they take on Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday. Following draws with Manchester United and West Brom, Raheem Sterling's first-half goal got City back to winning ways. Gabriel Jesus' opener was cancelled out by Alexandre Lacazette but Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and Aymeric Laporte scored in the second half. Goals from Ilkay Gundogan and Ferran Torres secured the points. Gundogan, Foden and Kevin De Bruyne made the game all-but safe by the 34th minute, before Callum Hudson-Odoi's late consolation. John Stones netted just after half-time and Fernandinho sealed victory late on. Bernardo Silva scored twice in the opening 15 minutes, with Foden adding the third before half-time. Foden's goal just before the break extended the sequence. Stones netted twice, with Gundogan and Sterling also on target. City had to wait 79 minutes for Silva to open the scoring, with a late Gundogan penalty clinching victory. The League Two underdogs threatened an upset through Alfie May's goal before Foden, Jesus and Torres scored in the last 10 minutes. Gundogan's run of form continued with two goals, with Joao Cancelo and Mahrez putting City four up at the break and Sterling adding the fifth. Jesus banged home the only goal in the ninth minute. Jesus again struck early on and Sterling's goal before half-time eased any fears of a comeback. Gundogan missed a penalty but atoned with two goals, sandwiching Mohamed Salah's successful spot-kick for the Reds, before Alisson Becker's second costly error allowed Sterling to make it 3-1 and Foden added a fourth. Kyle Walker gave City the lead in the first half and Sterling and Jesus added efforts shortly after the beak before Morgan Whittaker replied for the hosts. Ilkay Gundogan scored twice after Rodri put City ahead from the penalty spot midway through the opening period. Foden fired City ahead before Lucas Digne's powerful attempt came back off the post and hit Richarlison before flying over the line However, a wonderful curling finish from 18 yards by Mahrez restored City's lead before Bernardo Silva added the third. City looked confident right from the start, taking the lead with just two minutes gone as Sterling outjumped Rob Holding to head in Mahrez's cross. Silva headed in a wonderful cross from Joao Cancelo to open the scoring, before the same two players combined to lay on the second for Jesus. John Stones' second-half strike was enough to secure victory over a resilient West Ham United. Ruben Dias had put the hosts ahead at Etihad Stadium before West Ham fought back to level through Michail Antonio before the break. City struck three times in the final 10 minutes, with Gabriel Jesus grabbing two, as City held off an unexpected Wolves fightback to claim a deserved win.
