Timo Glock has pledged his future to Virgin Racing by signing a three-year contract with the team.
The new deal was announced ahead of yesterday's German Grand Prix, in which the German driver finished 17th. The contract will keep Glock, 29, at the team until the end of the 2014 season.
Despite running at the back of the grid since Virgin entered Formula One at the start of last year, Glock had no doubts that he wanted to remain with the team.
"I was frustrated, as with everyone else at the team, at certain moments last year," he said.
"But for me that takes two to three hours to subside and then I reset myself for the next weekend.
"For some reason everyone has asked me this weekend how I can still be motivated fighting for P20 at the moment.
"But for me I jump in the car and I just enjoy what I'm doing, fighting as hard as possible until the last lap.
"It doesn't matter whether I'm fighting for a podium or P20. That's how I was motivated last year and this year.
"I set my target for a weekend, I just want to get more than 100 per cent out of the package we have at the moment, and that's what I am doing."
Glock, who spent two years with Toyota before joining Virgin, has expressed his frustration with the car on many occasions, not least on Saturday after qualifying.
John Booth, the Virgin team principal, believes it "vitally important" for the team to have retained Glock's services as his experience is invaluable.
"We're very pleased he has faith in the team going forward, and it's another stamp on our way to becoming a sensible team," Booth said.
"Timo's had tough times with the team, pushing me, the team and pushing himself. But what we are seeing now is a result of Timo's hard work."

Another way to earn air miles
In addition to the Emirates and Etihad programmes, there is the Air Miles Middle East card, which offers members the ability to choose any airline, has no black-out dates and no restrictions on seat availability. Air Miles is linked up to HSBC credit cards and can also be earned through retail partners such as Spinneys, Sharaf DG and The Toy Store.
An Emirates Dubai-London round-trip ticket costs 180,000 miles on the Air Miles website. But customers earn these ‘miles’ at a much faster rate than airline miles. Adidas offers two air miles per Dh1 spent. Air Miles has partnerships with websites as well, so booking.com and agoda.com offer three miles per Dh1 spent.
“If you use your HSBC credit card when shopping at our partners, you are able to earn Air Miles twice which will mean you can get that flight reward faster and for less spend,” says Paul Lacey, the managing director for Europe, Middle East and India for Aimia, which owns and operates Air Miles Middle East.

1 The kind of water athletes drink is important.
