Suzann Pettersen confirmed for 2017 Omega Dubai Ladies Masters: 'I show up to win tournaments'

Suzann Pettersen will return to the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters next month with nothing other than victory on her mind.

The experienced Norwegian, who made her debut at the tournament last year, has been confirmed for the December 6-9 event, which brings down the curtain on the Ladies European Tour (LET) season.

Having racked up 22 professional wins, including seven on the LET, Pettersen will represent one of the favorites at Emirates Golf Club. The two-time major champion disappointed slightly in her first appearance 11 months ago, finishing in tied-35th.

However, Pettersen, 36, comes into the Dubai event on the back of a decent campaign in the United States, which included a third at the ANA Inspiration and another three top-10 finishes on the LPGA Tour. In Europe, she finished runner-up at the Lalla Meryem Cup in April. At present, Pettersen sits 11th in the Order of Merit.

A Solheim Cup regular for Europe, the world No 30 will look to channel that competitive egde when she tees it up at the Majlis Course.

“I show up to win tournaments, get better and break my own records," Pettersen said. "I hate losing. I still feel the desire every morning when I wake up to go out and try and become better than I was yesterday. Fortunately, we're in a sport where you have age on your side. There's always bits and pieces you feel like you can do better, improve. So, losing is probably my biggest motivation.

“It was my first time in Dubai last year, but the experience was just amazing. They have a great field, a great course and the players feel welcomed. The whole place has a really buzzing and pulsating atmosphere. I look forward to visiting the vibrant city and hope I will be in mix coming down the final stretch.

“However, for that to happen, it would take something special to beat the challenge, but I will try my best and see what happens.”
