Hemsky is on target as the Oilers keep their cool



Ales Hemsky scored in the second round of a shoot-out and Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers stopped all three shots in the bonus format as the Edmonton Oilers recorded a 3-2 triumph over the New York Rangers. Erik Cole and Kyle Brodziak netted during normal time while Drouin-Deslauriers finished with 40 saves for Edmonton, who won their first shoot-out of the season. Paul Mara grabbed his first goal in 66 games, captain Chris Drury also scored and Henrik Lundqvist saved 29 shots for New York.

Defencemen Tom Poti and Mike Green were on the mark in the first-period while Brent Johnson made 34 saves as the Washington Capitals toppled the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-2. Starting his fourth consecutive game in place of Jose Theodore, Johnson turned aside 28 shots in the final 40 minutes of proceedings for Washington. Eric Fehr also scored in the first for the Capitals, who extended their winning streak to three. Alex Ovechkin added his third goal of the season late in the third to end a nine-game goal drought.
