Enable lived up to her top billing by winning the Yorkshire Oaks for her fourth Group 1 prize. The John Gosden-trained dual Oaks winner made all the running under Frankie Dettori to win the feature prize from stable companion Coronet on Day 2 of the Ebor Festival meeting at York on Thursday. According to her handler Gosden, Enable’s next stop will be the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on October 1. Dettori raced in front of her five rivals and there never appeared an anxious moment as Enable romped past the winning post five lengths clear of stable companion Coronet under Frenchman Olivier Peslier. Queen’s Trust, under Jim Crowley, chased Enable for most of the race before she was caught close to home to take third ahead of Nezwaah in the silks of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid. “She's somewhat special,” Gosden said. “I think at a mile and a half she is the best filly I've ever trained, she's exceptional and able to do it both ways, from the front and off the pace. She'll go to the Arc.” Enable collected her fourth Oaks of the campaign, having won the Cheshire, English and Irish versions. Dettori changed tactics with only six runners in the race, coming out of the gates quickly and settling Enable in front. “I must say she got a bit bored in the end,” Dettori said. “I pushed her out, but I felt I had something left if someone had come to her. If you try and keep with her, they will break their lungs and that's why she wins by five lengths. “I had to stretch her out and she likes to have a fight on her hands. Unfortunately today there was no fight and we had to do our own thing. “I don't like to say until the Arc [whether best horse ridden]. So far she is doing everything the right way and would be one of the best. “She goes there with a favourite's chance and with the weight allowance. She has won four Group 1s in a row by five lengths and you can't ask for more than that.” Godolphin are pinning their hopes on Profitable to make his presence count in Friday’s Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes over the 1,000m sprint. Battaash, in the silks of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid, will have strong claims, having won his last three races, including the Group 2 King George Stakes from Profitable at Goodwood. Lady Aurelia, trained by American Wesley Ward and two out of two this season, will be the one to beat.
