The silver jubilee meeting of the Dubai World Cup will be held without spectators, the Dubai Racing Club has announced. Last year, the event that was due to celebrate the meeting's 25th anniversary was called-off due a week before the scheduled date due to the Coronavirus pandemic. “We will welcome limited horse connections, racing officials, accredited media and sponsors to Dubai World Cup at Meydan Racecourse on Saturday, March 27,” a statement said. “Dubai Racing Club will host the race meeting, without spectators and tickets will not be sold. All races will be contested and regulated in a standard fashion and results will be recorded in an official capacity. “In line with the UAE Government regulations, Dubai Racing Club will follow the strict health and safety measures, including full sanitisation, thermal screening of attendees and social distancing. “We encourage all those unable to attend, to be a part of the event by following our social media platforms @DubaiWorldCup and YouTube channel MeydanRacing.” The Dubai World Cup purse has been retained at $12 million in the meeting but the prize monies for the remaining eight races are slightly reduced from the previous running due to the challenging events because of Covid-19. The nine-race card consists of an impressive six Group 1 and three Group 2 races for a total prize fund of $26.5m. ______________________________________________________________ Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid attends Super Saturday in Dubai
