Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio ‘not interested’ in joining Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool

Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has brushed off reported interest from Liverpool by claiming he is fully focused on regaining his fitness after signing an extension with the Italian champions.

Marchisio has been linked with a move to Anfield following the appointment of Jurgen Klopp as the new Liverpool manager.

Marchisio returned to the fray following a recent injury knock in time for the ‘Derby d’Italia’ away to Inter Milan at a sold-out San Siro on Sunday.

Comment: Among the doubts were glimmers of hope for Liverpool on Jurgen Klopp's debut

But after a pulsating scoreless draw that left Fiorentina top of the pile with a one-point lead on Roma, he played down claims he could be tempted by a move to Liverpool.

“I’m not interested, I’ve just signed a contract extension and I’ve just come back from injury,” he told Sky Sports Italia.

“I’m working to get back to full fitness.”

Roberto Mancini’s Inter remain in third place, one place behind Roma on goal difference, with Juventus in 14th, 10 points behind Fiorentina.
