MONTE CARLO // Everton will have the chance to add to Belgian club Standard Liege's Merseyside misery after being drawn with them in the first round proper of the Uefa Cup. David Moyes' team will face Laszlo Boloni's side who were knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers by neighbours Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday, with the tie to be contested over two legs - the first at Goodison Park on on Sept 18, with the return two weeks later in Belgium. Last season's Carling Cup winners Tottenham Hotspur will hope to put their worrying domestic form behind them in pursuit of European honours as they welcome Polish side Wisla Kraków to White Hart Lane for the first leg. Harry Redknapp will test the European credentials of his Portsmouth side against Portuguese outfit Vitoria SC, who are also known as Guimaraes. Portsmouth qualified for the competition after winning last season's FA Cup. The Italian giants AC Milan will start their assault for European honours against Swiss side FC Zurich. The Serie A side are one of the big favourites in the tournament this year, having invested heavily in their playing staff over the summer, most notably with the signings of Ronaldinho and Andriy Shevchenko from Barcelona and Chelsea respectively. In other big ties Sevilla, winners in 2006 and 2007, play Austrian side Salzburg while Manchester City will face Cypriot side Omonia. Mark Hughes' men came back from a 1-0 first-leg deficit to beat FC Midtjylland in Denmark last night after extra-time and penalties to secure their place in the first round draw. Aston Villa face Bulgarian outfit Litex Lovech while Scottish Premier League team Motherwell will play French club Nancy. St Patrick's Athletic of Ireland's eircom League will face German side Hertha Berlin. The former England coach Steve McClaren will pit his FC Twente side up against French club Rennes. McClaren had seen the Dutch club go out of the Champions League qualifiers after defeat by Arsenal.
