The National's Sport cover for the Monday, May 25 issue, featuring Newcastle United's Jonas Gutierrez as he and the embattled club survived a relegation scare.
Compared to some final days past in the Premier League, Sunday was perhaps muted, but still full of weighty implications for Newcastle and Hull City, who could not survive the drop as they drew 0-0 with Manchester United.
Elsewhere Richard Jolly notes that Manchester City, on the heels of a disappointing campaign, already appear to be calculating their changes.
But Richard warns that a midfield exodus will be destabilising before they can upgrade:
“They ended this season in second place and with six successive victories. Yet though they embarked on a lap of honour, such are the standards they have set that it did not feel like a triumph.
“They want more, but the danger is their midfield will be depleted by departures and their squad gets worse before it gets better.”
And Chelsea, champions for weeks, finally got to officially lift the Premier League trophy.
