The lack of incentive, however, was not an issue for Eid Baroot's team last night as they cruised to a 3-1 win over Dubai. The three points take Wasl's tally to 31 and 14 of those points have come in the nine games under Baroot's charge. The Emirati is pleased with the way his players have responded and said: "I am very happy that we have collected those points and we have managed to put our problems of the past behind us. "I am very happy with the performance of the players tonight, especially the three who were making their first appearance - Mohammed Yaqoob, Ali Salmeen and Hassan Yousuf. I believe they are a good addition for the next season. "We have other talented players but, unfortunately, I have not had the time to give them a chance. But I hope they will be able to participate in the upcoming matches." The three Wasl newcomers did indeed make a good impression and Yousuf could have put the hosts ahead as early as the ninth minute, but his shot was just wide off the mark. Wasl, however, did get the lead in the 20th minute when Khalifa Abdullah blasted home a shoddy clearance by the Dubai defence. Dubai should have equalised five minutes into the second half, but Rodrigo Vergilio dragged the ball wide. Four minutes later, the visitors had another opportunity, but Hassan Abdulrahman shot straight into the Wasl keeper. As Dubai wasted their opportunities, Wasl took theirs and Emana made it 2-0 in the 59th minute, blasting home after Jussie had pulled the ball back for him. The Cameroonian then played a nifty one-two with Yasser Salem before the latter squeezed the ball into the nets for 3-0 in the 73rd minute. Vergilio reduced the margin in the 82nd minute when the Brazilian's shot hit the post but bounced back into the nets off the head of the Wasl goalkeeper Ahmed Mahmoud. The victory jumped Wasl over Al Dhafra and into the eighth position in the league. Wasl were also eighth last season, when Diego Maradona was the manager. Follow us
