Ronaldo is one yellow card away from picking up an automatic suspension and a booking — a fifth this season — against Leganes would have seen him miss the derby.
German midfielder Toni Kroos was also left out of Zidane’s 19-man squad.
However, Keylor Navas, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Casemiro and James Rodriguez return after missing Sunday’s 3-0 win over Alaves.
