David Simcock, the English trainer, has warned that Dream Ahead could easily contest any of the major 2,000 Guineas races as his first race of the European Flat season.
The three-year-old old colt, owned by Khalifa Dasmal, the Dubai Racing Club steward, is currently being trained for the English 2,000 Guineas but going concerns could scupper those well-laid plans.
Dream Ahead won his first three races, including the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes by nine lengths, on easy going and similar conditions will be required at Newmarket on April 30 if the colt is to make the line-up.
"I really want to run in the English 2,000 but if things are not right, ie the ground, there are two other options, the French and Irish Guineas," said the Newmarket-based handler.
"I'd like to see some rain here, and if it comes up the fast side of good then that's a no-no. It's been a very dry March so we'll have to wait and see."
Simcock, who learned how to train under the likes of Dick Hern and Luca Cumani, saddled 49 winners in Britain last season, and has sent out more winners each year since 2007 when he finished with a tally of 24.
Dream Ahead is by Diktat, the Godolphin colt that never scored over 1,600m, despite winning seven races over shorter distances. The Henry Cecil-trained Frankel beat Dream Ahead by seven lengths when the two clashed in the Group 1 Dubai Dewhurst Stakes over 1,400m at Newmarket in October but Simcock is hopeful that his charge can stay the Classic trip at Newmarket.
"I'm open-minded about him staying," the 38-year-old said. "We hope he will. He will be trained as though he will get a mile, but at this stage it is impossible to tell. We'll just have to wait and see, but I'm quietly confident that he will."

Do your homework
Make sure that you are being offered a fair salary. There is lots of industry data available, and you can always talk to people who have come out of the organisation. Where I see people coming a cropper is where they haven’t done their homework.
Don’t be afraid to negotiate
