Second set: Game eight A demon service game, agility around the court and of course, a smile from lady luck - Andy Murray leaves the court a deserving winner and will no doubt give Roger Federer cause for concern if he turns in another display like this tomorrow. Second set: Game seven A 190kph serve that Murray barely moves for from Blake gets a rise from the crowd. It is now Murray to serve for the match. Second set: Game six Backhand, forehand and volley winners see Murray race to a 5-1 lead. Victory now seems inevitable. Second set: Game five A ripple of applause from the crowd as Blake finally puts a good passage of play together to win the fifth game. He trails Murray 4-1. Second set: Game four Another faultless serving display from the Scot makes it 4-0 in the second. Second set: Game three Four advantage points for Blake, four times Murray pulls it back. Blake looks like a beaten man after bizarrely leaving a lob to bounce in play that never looked like going out. Second set: Game two Murray even has luck on his side as a shot loops off the net and over the onrushing Blake. The American looks up to the skies for an explanation but can't find one. Murray is having the rub of the green but that doesn't detract from the fact he is playing some wonderful tennis. 2-0 in the second set. Second set: Game one If Murray's New Year's resolution was to cause havoc on the best tennis players in the world, he started putting it into practice on the first day of 2009 in Abu Dhabi. He breaks Blake in the first game of the second set. First set: Game eight Blake finds the net twice while in a commanding position to allow his opponent back into the game and worse still, to take the set in just 24 minutes. 6-2 Murray, Blake with a lot of work to do. First set: Game seven Murray matches his forehand winner in the previous game with two more in the seventh to break Blake once again. Both his choice of shot and execution have been nothing short of perfect so far. First set: Game six A quality forehand shot just inside the line sees Murray pull away again to take a 4-2 lead. Shot of the match so far. First set: Game five The longest game we've seen today by far. Both men swapped advantage points as neither is prepared to give an inch. Eventually, an error by Murray sees Blake pounce to win his second game and make it 3-2 to the Briton. First set: Game four Murray is on fire. No post New Year's Eve blues for the wily Scot who is all over the court like a whippet. He takes a 3-1 lead over the American. First set: Game three Murray breaks serve to take an early lead. First set: Game two "Right back at you," says Murray as he races into a 40-0 lead before sealing the game with an ace to make it 1-1. First set: Game one A faultless service game from Blake as he takes the first game with no problems and no points dropped. ----------------------------------------------------- Some brilliant tennis in our first match in which the Russian player Nikolay Davydenko successfully negotiated his way past an out-of-sorts Andy Roddick 4-6, 4-6. Next on court is Britain's Andy Murray who will be taking on James Blake of the US with a date against the world No 2 Roger Federer in tomorrow's semi-final awaiting the winner. sluckings@thenational.ae
