Transfer talk: Andre Schurrle from Chelsea to Wolfsburg finalised; Wilfried Zaha nears permanent Palace stay

Chelsea

Andre Schurrle’s transfer to Wolfsburg has been announced by the Bundesliga side.

Shortly after 5.30pm it was announced World Cup-winning Germany winger Schurrle had agreed a four-and-a-half-year contract reportedly worth around £86,000 (Dh315,886) a week with the Bundesliga club.

Schurrle signed for Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen for £18 million (Dh66.1m) in 2013 but had found himself on the fringes of the side this season under Jose Mourinho.

Chelsea were said to be expecting £24 million for the man who lifted the World Cup last summer.

The forward was never first-choice under Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho but a record of 11 goals in 44 appearances – including a hat-trick against Fulham – isn't terrible.

Schurrle has signed a deal until 2019 as he returns to his homeland. Now, putting two and two together, eyes will turn to Fiorentina’s Juan Cuadrado’s and a potential deal.

Manchester United

Wilfried Zaha is reportedly nearing a permanent reunion with Crystal Palace from Manchester United, with a five-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee near finalisation.

He never really settled at United and, as Press Association’s Simon Peach points out: “Sir Alex’s last #MUFC buy wasn’t one of his best.”

A couple of outgoings, and more could follow, at Old Trafford but don’t expect that to free up space for Louis van Gaal to make a couple of additions.

“Highly-placed sources at Manchester United have confirmed what Louis van Gaal said last week – that there will be no incomings at Old Trafford today,” says PA’s chief football writer Paul Hirst.

“United are trimming their wage and sandwich bill by offloading Anderson to Internacional. The unwanted midfielder is in Brazil undergoing a medical after being handed a free transfer by the club.

“Darren Fletcher trained with United this afternoon but could still move to West Brom before the window shuts.

“I was told last week that Anders Lindegaard’s representatives were seeking a new club for their client, but the goalkeeper is yet to seal a move away from United, where he is third place behind David De Gea and Victor Valdes.”

Tottenham Hotspur

Press Association’s Simon Peach reports on the latest ongoings at White Hart Lane:

"I'm told Etienne Capoue could make a loan move to #WBA & that Younes Kaboul is in talks to join #WHUFC on loan with view to a permanent deal," he wrote on Twitter.

“#THFC closing in on move for #MKDons’ Delle Alli – likely to be the only player coming in on deadline day.”

New York Red Bulls

The New York Red Bulls have announced a mutual decision to end Tim Cahill’s contract, with the Australian having spent two and a half years with the MLS side.

The former Everton and Millwall midfielder could draw interest from a few Premier League clubs.

The National's Ahmed Rizvi reported during the Asian Cup that Arabian Gulf League club Al Wahda have a "tentative deal" with the Australian veteran.

Sources at the Abu Dhabi club confirmed they were in talks with the 35-year-old. “Cahill’s performance at the Asian Cup and the World Cup last year has really caught the eye of the Wahda top management and we can say a tentative deal is in place,” the source said.

New York City FC

Slovakian forward Adam Nemec has agreed to a contract with MLS side New York City FC.

The 29-year-old had spent the last two and a half seasons with Union Berlin in the German second division after stints with Slovakia’s MSK Zilina (2004-07), Germany’s Erzgebirge Aue (2007-08), Belgium’s Genk (2008-09), and Germany’s Kaiserslautern (2009-11) and Ingolstadt (2012).

Nemec has two goals in 14 international appearances. The agreement was announced Monday.
