The UAE Under 17 World Cup team concluded their three-week camp in Kuala Lumpur on a high, winning the final game 4-0 against the Malaysia U19. They will arrive at the Dubai International Airport tonight having won three of their four friendlies, with a scoreless draw against the Indonesia U19 side. The team will have little respite, though, as they regroup on Tuesday, after a two-day break. They will continue their training in Dubai before they head to Spain for the final leg of their preparation, in Spain, where they will play fellow U17 World Cup sides Argentina, Ivory Coast, Mexico and Panama in warm-up games. The UAE will face Honduras in the opening night of the World Cup, on October 17. Brazil and Slovakia, also in Group A, will play the early game at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium. Rashid Amir, the UAE coach, said the results achieved in the friendlies in Malaysia would help boost the confidence of his players, although his objective was to experiment. Khalid Khalfan was on target in the 15th and 18th minutes, while second-half goals from Zayed Al Ameri and a penalty from Mohammad Akbari sealed the victory over the Malaysia U19 on Thursday. The UAE defeated Singapore U19 (4-0) and Malaysian U20 (5-2) before the scoreless result against Indonesia U19. Follow us
