<a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/uae/2023/10/22/president-sheikh-mohamed-receives-singapore-pm-in-abu-dhabi/" target="_blank">President Sheikh Mohamed</a> held talks with Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs in Abu Dhabi on Monday. The President and Melanie Joly reviewed international and regional issues during the meeting at Al Bahr Palace. They also discussed developments in the Middle East, and ways to protect civilians in the <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/uae/government/2023/10/19/president-sheikh-mohamed-discusses-aid-to-gaza-with-un-food-chief/" target="_blank">Gaza Strip</a>. The meeting was attended by Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region; Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed, Ruler's Representative in Al Ain Region; Sheikh Surur bin Mohammed, and Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Family Development Foundation. Ms Joly also met Sheikh Abdullah on Monday, where they discussed bilateral relations and the protection of civilians in Gaza. They also stressed the importance of working in a co-ordinated manner at regional and international levels in order to end extremism, tension and escalating violence in the region. The meeting came on the day Sheikh Mohamed called for the humanitarian response in the Israel-Gaza war to be intensified. He made the comment during talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Abu Dhabi on Monday. Sheikh Mohamed and Mr Fidan underlined the need to assist aid organisations in delivering relief and medical support to civilians in the Gaza Strip.
