Five employees of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company who this month quickly extinguished a supercar which burst into flames at a petrol station were honoured on Monday at a ceremony and lunch at Adnoc’s HQ in the presence of Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and chief executive of Adnoc Group. Puthuparambil Shahul Hameed, Siyavulhakkim Kunjali, Joey Addru Ang, Kenny Estella and Rodolfo Jr Galo were praised for controlling the incident at the petrol station on Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Street quickly and ensuring the safety of those around them. On Sunday Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, shared a CCTV video from the petrol station on his Twitter account which showed the vehicle catching fire and nearby attendants quickly grabbing extinguishers before it could spread. "Adnoc managed successfully to control the fire in 10 seconds that proves the implementation of the best safety measures and standards," he said. A spokesperson for Adnoc said: “The safety of our staff, customers and the communities in which we operate is the number one priority for Adnoc. We are very proud of the way our employees responded to this incident in a professional and swift manner."
