Police in Ajman are using technology as the latest tool in the fight against drugs.
The force has carried out a host of initiatives to highlight the dangers of drugs, including installing an ATM-style electronic device, which provides information on counseling and guiding programmes on drug prevention, how to maintain healthy family relationships and advice from specialists, at both City Centre and China Mall.
Parents are the target audience of the campaign, Get Closer To Your Children To Save Them, held to mark this week's International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
Lt Col Saif Khalifa Al Muhairi, director of Ajman police's drug control department said that the campaign aims to educate parents about drugs, what to do to stop substance abuse by youngsters, and how to learn from other success stories of individuals who were able to save themselves before it was too late.

He said that police officers distributed leaflets in different areas of the emirate which highlight the importance of being close to your children and keeping a watchful eye over their lives to ensure hey don't fall in with the wrong crowd and pick up bad habits.
“In cooperation with Ajman transport authority, the taxis in the emirate carried posters warning from drugs while an exhibition was held at China Mall to educate community members,” he said.
Police are keen to embrace technology with the introduction of Siraj, an electronic device offering a reference point for drug related matters.
“We are aware of the public’s growing tendency towards using technology, this device will provide them with all the information they need,” said Lt Col Al Muhairi.

“If you use your HSBC credit card when shopping at our partners, you are able to earn Air Miles twice which will mean you can get that flight reward faster and for less spend,” says Paul Lacey, the managing director for Europe, Middle East and India for Aimia, which owns and operates Air Miles Middle East.
