An evening for everyone who ever felt like punching someone

White Collar Fight Night (WCFN) has quickly become one of the hottest tickets on the Dubai events calendar. The concept is to take an everyday person with no prior boxing experience, put them through eight weeks of training under the guidance of a world-class boxing coach, then put them in the ring to fight in front of a crowd of 820 people. There are chief executives, project managers, teachers and stay-at-home mothers on the card for the fourth edition of WCFN, and boxing coach and promoter Zack Taumafai and his team of trainers have taken the participants through a rigorous training programme in preparation for their entry into the ring. Along with the huge entertainment value that accompanies the black-tie gala dinner, Las Vegas-style event, there's also an auction of boxing memorabilia from the likes of Muhammad Ali, Joe Calzaghe and Ricky Hatton, with proceeds going to local charities. Tables are priced at Dh15,000 for ringside and Dh10,000 for standard, and individual tickets are Dh850. All tables seat 12 people and include a three-course meal and beverages. The event will be held at 6:30pm on Friday in the Habtoor Grand Hotel and Resort in Dubai.

An exhibition of contemporary art by 30 Egyptian artists will open on Thursday and run until June 14 at the Art Sawa gallery in Dubai. Entitled "Undercurrent", the show is meant to promote the public's awareness of contemporary art. It's worth keeping an eye on Art Sawa, the latest addition to Dubai's bustling art scene and a promoter of Middle Eastern and North African art forms through innovative exhibitions. The 12,000sq ft gallery also conducts regular educational programmes and publishes reflections on current issues and practices in modern art.

Abu Dhabi's Canadian Business Council will hold its first Victoria Day barbecue at 5pm on Friday. Queen Victoria's birthday has been celebrated in Canada since 1837 and May 24 has been declared a holiday by the Canadian government for decades. The Dubai Mall this weekend launched its 20-metre hydraulic Fashion Catwalk, which has been showcasing a range of the latest fashions from the world's top designers, including Missoni, Mulberry, Hugo Boss and Temperley. The Fashion Catwalk shows will be held for three consecutive weekends, May 7-9, 14-15 and 22-23 from 5pm to 9pm in the atrium on the mall's ground floor. Additional shows will include the latest trends of the high street from Topshop, Guess Jeans, Diesel & Reiss as well as children's brands, including Gap, Jacardi Paris and Tommy Hilfiger.
