A human rights initiative that concluded in the capital yesterday called for enhanced cooperation and participation between Arab countries to fight human trafficking and empower workers.
The Arab Initiative to Build National Capacities to Combat Human Trafficking was organised by the Qatar Foundation for Combating Human Trafficking and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.
Topics discussed included international models to combat trafficking and the role held by the Ministry of Labour and government in preserving labour rights.
The UAE has a five-prong national strategy to combat human trafficking through prevention, protection, prosecution, punishment and promotion of international co-operation, said Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
