An illegal factory that was selling expired animal feed to unsuspecting shops has been closed in Sharjah. Officials from Al Dhaid City Municipality raided the plant and seized more than 200 bags of feed, with mould growing on it. Four workers – living in the country illegally – were also found running the operation on the farm along the Al Dhaid-Weshah Road. Authorities said workers tagged false expiry dates and attributed them to a fake manufacturer before selling the fodder. A special sewing machine used to make bags and a 200kg scale were also seized.<br/> "Inspectors found a vehicle loaded with fodder ready to be distributed and confiscated 185 bags – 25kg each – of livestock feed and another 45 bags intended for horses," said Salim Al Tunaiji, head of operations at the municipality. “The municipality ensures its inspectors always monitor farms to detect all sorts of [breaches] that may cause harm to public health."
