Four Al Ain stunt drivers arrested after viral video

Four people have been arrested for a viral stunt driving video that promotes reckless behaviour, Abu Dhabi Police has announced on its Instagram account.

Col Ahmed Al Zuwaidi, the director of the Al Ain Traffic Department, urged the public to adhere to good ethics and spurn behaviour that disturbs the peace and exposes people to risk. Such videos encourage teenagers to mimic deadly behaviour, he said.

Three men were stunt driving and performing wheelies in residential areas and on main roads in Al Ain, endangering their lives and the lives of others. A fourth disseminated footage on social media and it quickly went viral, said Major Saif Al Ameri, the head of the investigations section at Al Ain Traffic Department.

Last year, Abu Dhabi law enforcers launched a crackdown on stunt driving with the introduction of community service. Stunt drivers filmed in viral videos were amongst the first offenders sentenced to community service.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid launches National Advanced Sciences Agenda 2031

A national plan to promote advanced sciences was launched on Sunday to "turn the creativity of human mind into reality," the Vice President said.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, also the Ruler of Dubai, said that enhancing advanced sciences environment in the UAE is the best investment in building the future.

He spoke as he launched the National Advanced Science Agenda 2031.

"The empowerment of Emirati scientists and creative minds entails providing appropriate tools and resources to attract and help them transform their scientific knowledge into a practical reality," he said, adding that would "strengthen the UAE’s march to the future through adopting modern technologies and advanced sciences".

"These sciences provide and develop solutions and deliver answers to many questions but will not make a difference without practical frameworks that transform them into the implementation phase."

The agenda reflects the UAE's approach and methodology in the government work, which is based on future-planning, proactive thinking and innovating the best practices and solutions.

85-year-old man dies after being hit by a car in RAK

An 85-year-old man has died after being run over by a car driven by a 25-year-old woman in Ras Al Khaimah on Sunday.

RAK police received a report about the accident at 8am, stating that an Emirati man had been hit by a vehicle driven by an Emirati woman on RAK's Airport Road, and immediately dispatched police patrols and paramedics to the site.

“The accident occurred when the man tried to cross the main road without checking if the road was clear. He was transferred directly to the hospital but was pronounced dead there,” said Capt Ibrahim Al Mazroui, director of Traffic and Patrol Branch at Digdaga police station.

The accident case has been referred to prosecutors for legal action.

Capt Al Mazroui urged the public to abide by traffic rules and regulations and avoid crossing the road from undesignated areas.

Two national service recruits die in a car accident

Two national service recruits died in a car accident after their vehicle collided with a truck on Al Dhaid Road on their way to join a military training camp.

Sharjah Police received a report about the accident on Saturday evening and rushed to the site with an ambulance.

Both Emiratis, MA and AA, were aged 19 and living in Khor Fakkan, MA died on the spot while AA sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead after being admitted to hospital.

Investigations are still underway to determine the cause of the accident.

Both were buried on Sunday in Khor Fakkan. MA was buried after Al Fajr prayers in Al Manajir Cemetery while AA was buried after Al Dhuhr prayers in Al Sharq cemeter
