DUBAI // An inquest into the death of a British man who fell from an unfinished bridge in Dubai Marina in March has recorded a verdict of accidental death.
Elliot Lintott, 27, died after walking through barriers on the bridge near the Habtoor Grand hotel and falling five metres to the ground.
"He had too much to drink and then fell to his death from the bridge," said Alan Craze, the coroner for East Sussex, who presided over the inquest at Eastbourne magistrates' court.
The finding matches those of Dubai Police and the public prosecutor's office.
Mr Lintott's friends last saw him at a concert at the Barasti Bar in Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina.
Soon after the accident a representative of Parsons Infrastructure and Technology Group, which built the bridge, said barriers placed at the site had been meant to stop vehicles from going over the edge and should have been enough to warn pedestrians.
Since the accident, more barriers have been put in place to stop people walking on the bridge.
Mr Lintott worked in digital sales at the Dubai office of Abu Dhabi Media, owner and publisher of The National.

Four tips to secure IoT networks
Mohammed Abukhater, vice president at FireEye in the Middle East, said:
- Keep device software up-to-date. Most come with basic operating system, so users should ensure that they always have the latest version
- Besides a strong password, use two-step authentication. There should be a second log-in step like adding a code sent to your mobile number
- Usually smart devices come with many unnecessary features. Users should lock those features that are not required or used frequently
- Always create a different guest network for visitors

What is the Supreme Petroleum Council?
The Abu Dhabi Supreme Petroleum Council was established in 1988 and is the highest governing body in Abu Dhabi’s oil and gas industry. The council formulates, oversees and executes the emirate’s petroleum-related policies. It also approves the allocation of capital spending across state-owned Adnoc’s upstream, downstream and midstream operations and functions as the company’s board of directors. The SPC’s mandate is also required for auctioning oil and gas concessions in Abu Dhabi and for awarding blocks to international oil companies. The council is chaired by Sheikh Khalifa, the President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi while Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, is the vice chairman.

How it works
Each player begins with one of the great empires of history, from Julius Caesar's Rome to Ramses of Egypt, spread over Europe and the Middle East.
Round by round, the player expands their empire. The more land they have, the more money they can take from their coffers for each go.
As unruled land and soldiers are acquired, players must feed them. When a player comes up against land held by another army, they can choose to battle for supremacy.
A dice-based battle system is used and players can get the edge on their enemy with by deploying a renowned hero on the battlefield.
Players that lose battles and land will find their coffers dwindle and troops go hungry. The end goal? Global domination of course.
