Ride-hailing app Careem has teamed up with the UAE Food Bank to deliver food donations for free this Ramadan to help those in need. For the second year in a row, they will be accepting donations of either home-cooked meals or extra portions of takeaway that will be deposited in Ramadan fridges across Dubai for free. Donations are accepted between 11am and 5pm before iftar. To arrange collection, select Food Bank from the car type menu on the app, enter your pick up location and type "food bank" as your drop off. Careem urged people to ensure that all food donated is safe and of good quality. It should be prepared on the day and kept in a clean, sealed box. Canned food, long-life juices, milk, fruit and vegetables (unchopped) and bakery products are preferred. The scheme is currently only available in Dubai, and not in Motor City, Silicon Oasis, Khawaneej, Mamzar, Mirdif, Arabian Ranches, Qusais or Nahda. The UAE Food Bank distributes food to the less fortunate members of the community, including workers, underprivileged families and vulnerable citizens.
