A driver raped a house maid in their sponsor's home in Dubai, the Criminal Court was told on Sunday.
According to the Filipina domestic helper, 26, she was being harassed by the Pakistani driver, 32, for a while before she was attacked on March 3.
"He would follow me around the house and sometimes hug me from behind or try to kiss me. I pushed him away every time and yelled at him but he would not stop," the woman told the court.
At 8pm, on the day of the attack, the accused followed the woman into the laundry room and hugged her from behind.
She said that she tried to fight him off but he overpowered her and dragged her into his nearby bedroom.
"He turned off the lights in his room, pushed me on to bed and then raped me," she said.
She said that, once it was over, she got dressed and ran out of the room.
She told her sponsor the next day who took her to Al Qusais police station to report the crime.
A medical report revealed that she had suffered “minor scratches that may be consistent with her version of events”.
At the Dubai Criminal Court on Sunday, the accused denied a charge of rape. The next hearing is scheduled for June 25.

Low turnout
Two months before the first round on April 10, the appetite of voters for the election is low.
Mathieu Gallard, account manager with Ipsos, which conducted the most recent poll, said current forecasts suggested only two-thirds were "very likely" to vote in the first round, compared with a 78 per cent turnout in the 2017 presidential elections.
