DUBAI // A man has been fined Dh1,000 for assaulting his four siblings after they caught him sneaking women out of the family home during Ramadan.
Emirati OA, 29, said he was leaving the house to attend Friday prayers on July 27 when he saw his brother, MA, 44, escorting two women from the property, in Mirdif, and into a taxi.
When he returned home after prayers, he saw his brother attacking his two sisters.
"He then assaulted me. He grabbed a knife and threatened to stab me with it," said the brother, an inspector with the Roads and Transport Authority.
He claimed his sibling was acting unusually and suspected he might have been on drugs.
Another brother, JA, 42, also said he saw the accused escorting two Arab women from the house when he was going to prayers.
"They all looked abnormal to me," he said. "When I returned home I saw him slapping our sister." He claimed his brother assaulted him then grabbed a knife, so he called the police.
The accused said he was going to Friday prayers when his sisters assaulted him for no reason.
"I defended myself and assaulted them back," he said. "The medications I take are prescribed by Rashid Hospital."
He said he took one tablet of prescribed medication on Sahour before the next day's fast.

Yemen's Bahais and the charges they often face
The Baha'i faith was made known in Yemen in the 19th century, first introduced by an Iranian man named Ali Muhammad Al Shirazi, considered the Herald of the Baha'i faith in 1844.
The Baha'i faith has had a growing number of followers in recent years despite persecution in Yemen and Iran.
Today, some 2,000 Baha'is reside in Yemen, according to Insaf.
"The 24 defendants represented by the House of Justice, which has intelligence outfits from the uS and the UK working to carry out an espionage scheme in Yemen under the guise of religion.. aimed to impant and found the Bahai sect on Yemeni soil by bringing foreign Bahais from abroad and homing them in Yemen," the charge sheet said.
Baha'Ullah, the founder of the Bahai faith, was exiled by the Ottoman Empire in 1868 from Iran to what is now Israel. Now, the Bahai faith's highest governing body, known as the Universal House of Justice, is based in the Israeli city of Haifa, which the Bahais turn towards during prayer.
The Houthis cite this as collective "evidence" of Bahai "links" to Israel - which the Houthis consider their enemy.

New central waste facility on site at expo Dubai South area to handle estimated 173 tonne of waste generated daily by millions of visitors
Recyclables such as plastic, paper, glass will be collected from bins on the expo site and taken to the new expo Central Waste Facility on site
Organic waste will be processed at the new onsite Central Waste Facility, treated and converted into compost to be re-used to green the expo area
