A man stole a camel worth Dh10,000 from his employer's farm last month, Dubai Criminal Court heard. On October 7, the 22-year-old camel shepherd, from Pakistan, allegedly stole the animal and tried to sell her at a camel market in Al Marmoum. The Emirati owner, 40, told the court he noticed one of his camels was missing from his farm in Lehbab and began calling neighbouring markets to ask if they had a dromedary that fit the description. “They told me it was offered for sale in the market, so I called police at once,” he said. Police went down to the market and arrested the shepherd before returning the camel to her rightful owner. In court on Thursday, the accused was charged with theft, which he denied. A verdict is due on December 21.
