Man used mobile phone to take obscene clips of women, Dubai court hears

DUBAI // A man used his mobile phone to zoom in on the cleavages of women travelling on the Dubai Metro as well as filming up their skirts, a court heard today.

BS, a 28-year-old Pakistani cook, was reported by a female passenger on June 24 this year after she noticed him filming her at Al Rashidiya Metro station. She told a policemen of her suspicions and he confronted the cook.

The policeman checked the cook's mobile phone and searched through his recordings, finding a number of clips featuring women's buttocks and breasts - including those of the woman who reported him.

"When I confronted him with the recordings he said he was filming public places," the policeman testified. He then arrested the cook and took him to Al Rashidiya police station.

Investigations found 13 obscene clips on the cook's phone. At the Criminal Court he denied charges of sexual assault against a number of women, insisting that he meant only to film public places.

A verdict is expected on November 25.
