DUBAI // Four men used and sold fake Dubai police buttons carrying the department's logo, the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance heard this morning.
MA, 47, Pakistani, admitted bringing the buttons to the country from Pakistan and said MS, 28, from Bangladesh had asked him for them. ML, 43, from Bangladesh, also denied the charges while PN, 48, an Indian designer, was not present in court.
MA testified that he had sought 900 buttons in 2009 from a factory in Pakistan. He said he gave 700 buttons to MS and stored the remainder in a flat in Sharjah.
MS denied the charges, saying
he did not know the buttons were fake.
The defendants were reported to Dubai police for running a shop in Ajman that sold the buttons, records show. They were arrested after a visit from undercover police officers on February 7, 2010.
Police found 388 buttons in the shop and the houses of the defendants.
The next hearing was scheduled for April 20.
