A paramedic was left partially deaf after an Emirati man slapped her, Dubai Criminal Court heard. Judges were told the man, 32, hit the health care professional in a fit of rage after his father died in Rashid Hospital. Paramedics were called to the Emirati man’s home in Nad Al Sheba after his father fell seriously ill on September 3, 2020. He later died. The man’s sister told him the paramedics were negligent. “I was in shock about my father getting injured in his neck, then more shocked to hear he had died,” the man told prosecutors. “I was in shock, and after my sister told me the [paramedics] were negligent, I approached [one paramedic] and slapped her.” “I felt great pain in the left side of my head and I bled from my mouth,” said the Indian paramedic, 43. A medical report said the woman was left with partial hearing loss in her left ear, which is considered a two per cent permanent disability. The man was charged with physical assault. The next hearing is on May 25.
