DUBAI // Four men used swords, knives and stun guns to terrorise three Filipinos after breaking into their home, the Dubai Criminal Court heard yesterday. According to the prosecution, three of the men burst into a villa in the Hamdan area of the Hor al Anz district of Deira at 4am on May 24. Four appeared in the court charged with armed robbery and assault, while a fifth suspect is at large.
AA, 21, an Indian driver; MM, a Bangladeshi farmer, 25; SM, 21, a Pakistani student; and AB, 29, are accused of entering the villa, their faces covered with towels, while brandishing the weapons. A 31-year-old woman who lives in the villa told prosecutors that she and two male friends were watching television when the attackers burst in, screaming at them to remain still. "My friend tried to fight them off and he was assaulted by one of the men," she told the court.
Their hands were tied behind their back with rope, she told prosecutors. One of the assailants stood guard with a sword, holding it to her neck and saying "stay quiet or we will hurt you". The woman said that she had recognised one of the assailants, AA.
