DUBAI // Two men were convicted this morning of attempting to steal a 2003 Honda Civic bumper and sentenced to three months in prison each.
The Dubai Court of First Instance was told that the Emirati defendant BE, 23, was caught trying to detach the bumper of a Honda Civic parked at a car workshop on February 22, 2011.
According to court records, BE drove to the workshop with his accomplice AJ, 20-year-old Kenyan clerk, about 9pm on that date.
Records said AJ remained in the car while BE sneaked towards the Honda. But employees at the workshop caught him right before he finished taking off the bumper.
He told them it belonged to AJ, who owned the car, records show.
Workshop employees said that the car has been repossessed by an insurance company and been parked for more than a month before the incident, records said.
