ABU DHABI // A court has ordered the arrest of a man whose defence lawyer complained of being "driven crazy" by his consistent failure to attend hearings.
The lawyer Fayza Moussa also told the head of the Criminal Court, Chief Justice Sayed Abdul Baseer, that YF, an Emirati accused of smuggling cannabis from Sri Lanka, was "not normal".
The man has previously argued in court that cannabis is a cure for cancer and should not be considered a drug.
"Britain, may Allah punish it with what it deserves, banned it in preparation for the third world war," he said during an earlier hearing.
Mrs Moussa said that since being granted bail the man had been playing games with her.
"He is not normal and I'm worried he is a risk to society," said Mrs Moussa. "He should be sent for treatment as soon as possible."
Chief Justice Abdul Baseer ordered the man to be arrested and adjourned the case.
