A rare Porsche 918 Spider on sale for Dh4.6 million was the most expensive car to be advertised on classified website Dubizzle for the capital this year.
The sports car kept a Dh2.45m Lamborghini Superveloce and Dh2.3m Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe from the top spot, although all were 2016 models. A number plate with the digits 570, code six, also fetched Dh570,000, the highest this year.
The data comes from Dubizzle’s first motoring report, which offers an insight into Abu Dhabi’s high-end used-car market.
The cars were among 125,000 listed between January and November. The Nissan Patrol, with more than 500 listings, was the most popular model, fetching an average of Dh166,327.
The most searched brands were Toyota, Honda, Jeep, AMG and Mercedes, with black, white and red the most popular colours.
Luxury yachts topped the list of the most expensive items on Dubizzle Abu Dhabi, with a 2010 Hatteras 105 on the site for Dh30.4m.
“There is no doubt that the people of Abu Dhabi have a great passion for cars, with the recent Formula One Grand Prix event being a classic example of this,” said Osman Bhurgri, from Dubizzle UAE.
“The auto industry in the UAE has continued to grow at a rapid pace and the country remains one of the fastest growing automobile markets in the region. That being said, the used-car market has also shown some great resilience, and research has predicted that by the end of next year, eight out of 10 people will buy a new or pre-owned car in the UAE.”
A follow-up report will be published for Dubai next year.
