An expatriate family whose car was stuck in the sand dunes near Bab Al Shams Desert Resort was rescued by Dubai Police Air Wing.
A helicopter staffed by Col Pilot Mohammed Mohammed and Lt Pilot Hamdan Boushqar, was dispatched to the scene. The crew managed to locate the family after calling their cell phones. After landing, the crew got the vehicle out of the sand with the help of the ambulance vehicle and guided the family to the road.
Col Juma said the air wing’s mission to offer efficient services was part of their national duty and of the principle of community partnership. He urged the public to carry GPS devices in the desert to help rescue teams locate them in the event of an emergency.
