Dubai Police are offering motorists the chance to have their traffic fines scrapped. Under the new scheme, any driver who has not committed an offence for 12 months after February 7 this year will have any existing fines waived. Officers said the initiative would also benefit other motorists. Drivers who successfully keep a clean record for nine months from the same date will receive 75 per cent off the charge, while those who avoid further penalties for six months will be entitled to a 50 per cent reduction. Police made the announcement on Twitter as part of their Traffic Fines Settlement initiative. By law, motorists in the emirate have 12 months to pay off traffic violations. “#DubaiPolice officially launch the third phase of the “Traffic Fines Settlement” initiative offering 75 per cent on accumulated fines for those who haven’t committed any traffic violations since the 7th of February 2019,” Police tweeted on Thursday.
