A car burst into flames while parked in a petrol station near Dubai Festival City on Saturday. Civil Defence were called to the scene at 1pm after the car's engine ignited just metres from a petrol pump. Firefighters arrived to find the blaze had been extinguished by fuel attendants, who also stopped the fire from spreading across the station. No injuries were reported. A few hours prior, the morning teams from Al Barsha Civil Defence carried out a drill at an Enoc petrol station during which they extinguished fire in a petrol tanker. The training was held in efforts to improve response times and to teach petrol station workers and fuel attendants best practice when faced with a fire. In August, a team of petrol pump attendants put out a car fire at an Adnoc station on Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Street. A video showed the vehicle catching fire and the attendants around it quickly grabbing extinguishers before it could spread. The five employees were thanked for their quick actions and bravery and honoured in a ceremony at Adnoc's HQ where they had lunch with Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and chief executive of Adnoc Group.
