A high-rise tower in Business Bay was left partially without power after a short circuit led to the building's evacuation. Smoke was spotted coming from the main electrical room on Damac's Maison Cour Jardin hotel-apartment building on Saturday night. Residents were led from the building about 9.30pm. The electrical connecter for several floors was temporarily disabled as an additional safety precaution. “We aim to have the matter resolved immediately, while investigating the cause of the short circuit thoroughly,” said Niall McLoughlin, Damac Properties senior vice president. Dubai Civil Defence said it cleared guests to return within 12 minutes. Flats from the ground to the tenth floor of the hotel apartments remained without power on Sunday. “Guests impacted by the incident and the electrical outage were relocated to a sister property nearby,” said Mr McLoughlin. “All guests and their needs continue to be addressed by the team on-site.” The hotel is storing residents' perishable food in its freezer.
