Firemen are known for cat rescues but more often the feline has got itself stuck up a tree, not down a three-metre deep hole. However, no task is too small for Dubai Civil Defence, even if it is a tiny kitten that has fallen behind a marble wall at a residential tower in Dubai Marina. As its mother watched on, anxiously meaowing, a rescue team took just 20 minutes to free the kitten and reunite it with its mother. The rescue team from the ports station had been dispatched to the building after a tenant, Dr Alia Chamaa, called an animal welfare group to report the incident and the group called civil defence for help. DCD said in an Instagram post that the kitten fell as its mother was relocating it to a safer place. Rescuers arrived within 15 minutes and were met by the mother cat at the building entrance and she then followed the team all the way to where the sound of her distressed kitten was coming from. The kitten was rescued unharmed and then Dr Chamaa adopted both it and its mother. The Instagram post was well received among social media users.
