Curriculum training for ADEC teachers

ABU DHABI // Teachers are being trained to understand the curriculum as part of the Abu Dhabi Education Council’s plans to support the faculty and students.

Training has been offered to all 11,277 teachers, the regulator said.

About 200 heads of faculty for nursery and primary schools took part in a “train the trainer” session on Tuesday and later provided similar training to teachers at their schools.

English, maths and science staff were offered strategies for teaching the subjects, and 364 teachers from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Gharbia took part.

About 316 information technology teachers from public schools joined in a day-long session on Tuesday. This was focused on coding skills and computer programming.

Arabic, Islamic Studies, physical education, social studies and music teachers will form part of next month’s curriculum training.

As many as 574 faculty heads in Arabic, Islamic, English, maths, biology, chemistry, and physics departments are signed up for a train the trainer programme scheduled for later this year.

Faculty heads will then help upgrade skills in their schools.

As part of the Abu Dhabi School Model plan, 338 former history and geography teachers will be trained by Adec to become integrated social studies teachers. Another 330 former geology and geography teachers will be trained by the United Arab Emirates University to teach geoscience.

The training activities took place over five days last week.
