Seven hundred jobs are being reserved for Emiratis by Abu Dhabi Education Council following an agreement with Abu Dhabi Emiratisation Council.
The education council, which has responsibility for schools and universities across the emirate, is reserving the jobs in a variety of areas, including administration and transport, after signing a memorandum of understanding with the Emiratisation council.
In previous years, the positions in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Gharbia would have been open to people of any nationality.
Dr Mugheer al Khaili, director general of Abu Dhabi Education Council, described the agreement as "an exciting development".
"It is a benchmark for future partnerships," he added. "It clearly signals our efforts to make employment for UAE nationals a priority and our commitment to support the Emiratisation vision set out by the leaders of our country."
The job vacancies are open to men and women and include positions for safety officers, school administrators and learning resource officers. Teaching positions are not covered by the agreement.
Abdullah al Darmaki, chief executive of Abu Dhabi Emiratisation Council, said: "The opportunity to create more than 700 vacancies for Emirati job-seekers shows just what can be achieved when organisations work together on supporting Emiratisation, so that the skills of UAE nationals are developed and utilised."
A series of roadshows is planned to promote the vacancies, which are available immediately. Candidates, who must be at least graduates of secondary school, are required to send applications to Abu Dhabi Emiratisation Council. More information is available by calling the Emiratisation council on 02-699-7777 or 800-22332.
