Repton School announces plans to open in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI // One of Dubai's leading private schools has announced it is expanding to the capital next year.

Repton School Abu Dhabi will open on Reem Island in September 2013 with a campus for 520 children from Nursery to Year 2. A second campus for children in Year 3 and above will open in 2014.

The school, which follows a British curriculum, will also be equipped with two multipurpose halls and a swimming pool.

The expansion is the result of a partnership between Evolvence Knowledge Investments Limited (EKI) and Sorouh. It is the first school to be built in the community.

"Education is a key component of the overall vision of Abu Dhabi and this represents Sorouh's first project in this important area," said Abubaker Al Khouri, the managing director of Sorouh Real Estate. "It is a great honour to be able to announce our first education partnership with the leading British institution Repton School. This world renowned school will significantly enhance the thriving community on Shams Abu Dhabi and the wider Al Reem Island."

EKI first brought Repton to the UAE in 2007. Today, the popular school has more than 2,200 pupils enrolled and includes a boarding house.

"The Governors and I are delighted that young people in Abu Dhabi will be able to share in the experience of a Repton education," said Sir Henry Every, chairman of the Repton Board of Governors.

"I am confident that the success of Repton Dubai will be replicated in Abu Dhabi and pupils will enjoy high educational standards in a friendly, family atmosphere."
