Sharjah Ruler to open Children’s Reading Festival this week

SHARJAH // The Ruler is to open Sharjah’s Children’s Reading Festival on Wednesday.

Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed will open the ninth edition of the 11-day family event, which will bring together some of the world’s best children’s authors to Sharjah Expo Centre.

The festival will host more than 1,500 shows and activities that are each specifically designed to encourage reading by either children or adults. Workshops will be conducted to reinforce children’s talents in the scientific, literary and artistic fields.

International authors including two American best-selling authors, Gayle Forman and Kwame Alexander, are scheduled to attend. Korky Paul, a British children’s book illustrator, and other prominent Arab authors and artists will also attend.

The festival will feature a programme of entertaining and educational events that combine the latest technology and visual arts to nurture the skills of children and young adults.
