Some pupils in the UAE will receive a month-long break over the upcoming winter school holiday. According to a tweet from the Ministry of Education, the break for pupils at government and private schools following the authority's curriculum begins on Sunday, December 15, with pupils returning to school on Sunday, January 12. The tweet said: "Winter holiday for students.. From December 15, 2019 to January 9, 2020.. [School] Schedule to resume on Sunday, January 12, 2020.. We wish everyone a happy holiday." The wording initially prompted a flurry of excitement among some, who thought the calendar for private schools following foreign curriculums, due to return a week earlier, had changed. "This calendar is for government and private schools that follow the Ministry's curriculum," it said. Private schools following foreign curriculums will break for the holiday at the end of this week, with classes resuming on Sunday, January 5.
